For solo builders
A possible application for this research area. Paper-specific feasibility still needs a full-paper review.

- Locate the paper's implementation and check its license, model support, data needs, and hardware requirements. Stop here if you cannot obtain the required artifacts.
- Save a small set of representative product tasks and expected outcomes. Keep evaluation tasks out of any training or tuning, and choose quality and cost limits before running.
- Run the baseline and the proposed change on identical inputs. Keep other settings fixed and repeat paired runs to expose variation.
- Save per-task outputs, failures, timings, and all usage costs. Review regressions before expanding the test.
What to measure
Correct completed actions, invalid calls, retries, latency, and cost per completed task.
When to keep it
Keep the change only if it meets your preselected quality and latency limits and improves the metric you care about after setup and operating costs. Otherwise retain the baseline. This is an exploration plan, not a validated recommendation.

- Domain-specialized Text-to-SQL with lookup and schema linking
- published

The approach is feasible on a single GPU or API-only stack and directly addresses a real production failure mode, but its gains depend on domain-specific curated assets whose value must be validated on the reader's own schema and workload.
About the technical core
Equations have not been fetched yet.
When reading the methods, identify the rule, algorithm, or evaluation protocol that produces the claimed change. An equation is useful here only if it explains that mechanism.

Read the brief interpretation
FLINT replaces general-purpose Text-to-SQL prompting (Spider/BIRD-style) with a pipeline combining a lookup agent that resolves natural-language concepts to opaque integer key constraints, embedding-based retrieval over an expert-authored query template bank, and foreign-key-traversal schema linking. The cost is engineering and maintenance effort: a curated template bank, reference-table lookup infrastructure, and schema-traversal logic, all specific to the target database, plus extra LLM calls and retrieval latency per query. It can fail when the template bank lacks coverage of new question types, when the lookup agent mis-resolves a concept to wrong IDs, or when schemas drift and the expert-authored components are not updated.

FLINT outperforms state-of-the-art Text-to-SQL baselines using the same LLM on 359 questions over production financial schemas, where general-purpose systems score below 50%; no multiplicative factor is reported.
