For solo builders
A possible application for this research area. Paper-specific feasibility still needs a full-paper review.
Your coding assistant makes changes that still need substantial repair before merging.

The same coding agent, repository snapshot, tools, and token budget.
- Locate the paper's implementation and check its license, model support, data needs, and hardware requirements. Stop here if you cannot obtain the required artifacts.
- Save a small set of representative product tasks and expected outcomes. Keep evaluation tasks out of any training or tuning, and choose quality and cost limits before running.
- Run the baseline and the proposed change on identical inputs. Keep other settings fixed and repeat paired runs to expose variation.
- Save per-task outputs, failures, timings, and all usage costs. Review regressions before expanding the test.
What to measure
Correct patches, regression failures, human repair time, and total cost per accepted change.
When to keep it
Keep the change only if it meets your preselected quality and latency limits and improves the metric you care about after setup and operating costs. Otherwise retain the baseline. This is an exploration plan, not a validated recommendation.

The method is training-free and compatible with third-party APIs, and a Claude Code plugin lowers integration cost, but the benchmark gains require validation on the reader's own requirements and tolerance for extra per-request LLM calls and code execution.
About the technical core
Equations have not been fetched yet.
When reading the methods, identify the rule, algorithm, or evaluation protocol that produces the claimed change. An equation is useful here only if it explains that mechanism.

Read the brief interpretation
CONTRA replaces both silent assumption-resolution in coding agents and indiscriminate clarification policies by generating candidate questions, filtering them semantically, and qualifying only those whose two plausible answers produce behaviorally divergent programs on shared inputs. It is training-free and runs on API-accessible LLMs, but it costs multiple additional model calls per requirement plus execution of generated programs, adding latency, token spend, and a sandboxing requirement. It can fail when shared inputs do not expose the behavioral difference, when the execution environment is unavailable or unsafe, or when interaction-history selection stops clarification prematurely on real requirements that differ from the benchmark distribution.

Highest F1 across four coding agents on ClarifyCodeBench, exceeding the best baseline macro-average F1 by 13.88 percentage points; also higher clarification recall and F1 than Claude Code and OpenHands harnesses under the same LLM and protocol.
